£1,400 raised for Burnham-On-Sea’s Abbeyfield Society and Rotary Club

Over £1,400 was raised for Burnham and Highbridge Abbeyfield Society and Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club when he two groups held a successful joint fundraising event at the Oaktree arena on Saturday (16th November).

Entertainment was provided by 60’s band Monopole alongside a couple of fun wooden horse races, a raffle and an auction.

The Abbeyfield Society provides sheltered housing for mature people who are actively minded and independent in Burnham-On-Sea.

Over 100 people attended Saturday’s event, and auction items included paintings from several Abbeyfield artists and residents.

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer and Chairman of SDC Cllr Peter Clayton officiated in the horse races, along with tellers Rotary President and President elect Terry Spragg and Chris Ashton. Raffle ticket sellers were Sam and Immy Ashton.

Tom Ashton, Chair of the Burnham and Highbridge Abbeyfield Society, said the event had been a “great success” and he thanked all those who had supported the evening.
