A successful mini gig rowing regatta was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (November 14th) involving teams from along the Somerset coastline to serve as a trial for a full event in 2022.

Six teams were involved including Burnham, Bristol, Combwich, Clevedon, Porlock and Portishead.

“The day was a great success, helped by the November sun and calm conditions, and was enjoyed by all the crews who attended,” said a spokesman for the Burnham club.

“This was our first event to be held in Burnham, and a practice run for our next regatta planned for April 2022.”

There were six races durin the day, including Mens A+B, Ladies A+B, a mixed Vets (over 40s) and a mixed Supervets (over 50s).

Spectators along the seafront watched the gigs navigate around the buoys in the Parrett estuary.
