Pickleball tournaments for ladies, men and mixed doubles were held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club during its Tennis Finals Day on Sunday 20th September.
The events were organised by the club’s men’s captain, Sam Goodhew. Mixed doubles winners were Darrel Gayfer and Finn Lawton, who beat Alex and Sally.
Charlotte Bolton was crowned ladies’ champion, with Finn the runner-up. Dan Rider won the men’s title, with Darrel finishing runner-up.
Sam thanked the committee, volunteers, players and supporters who stayed to watch the matches. He said he was pleased to see so many tennis players taking part in the growing sport, which is played on a reduced-size tennis court.
Pickleball sessions are held at the club in The Grove on Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm, with organised social play on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm.
