Wildlife carers near Burnham-On-Sea are caring for a feathered baby bird who was brought in after falling onto someone’s car bonnet when he was dropped from the mouth of a predator.

Staff at Secret World in East Huntspill have fondly named the plucky little pigeon ‘Turkey’ as he has the same colouring of his much larger counterpart.

Meanwhile, staff and volunteers are currently coping with large numbers of underweight hedgehogs – the smallest being less than 150g who they have aptly named ‘Holly’.

The hibernating weight of a hedgehog needs to be at least 600g or above and the centre is already accommodating over 80 hedgehogs.

Both Holly and Turkey will be spending Christmas at Secret World, which will still be taking in injured and orphaned animals throug the festive period. To donate towards the care of the centre’s animals, see the website here.
