A five year-old boy who went missing at Berrow sparked a major Coastguard and police search on Thursday afternoon (August 3rd).

The family of the young lad, who was on holiday in the seaside resort, reported him missing at lunchtime.

Police officers immediately launched a search of the beach and sand dunes and a force helicopter (pictured) was brought in from Portishead to conduct a search from the air.

Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea were also called to the scene amid some concern that the boy could have been in the water.

But police officers found the boy at around 2pm. “He was found unhurt and safe – much to the relief of his family,” a police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday (August 4th).
