Police have named the woman who died on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea’s Sedgemoor Services on Friday morning, November 11th.

Joan Harrill, 77, of Cheddar was pronounced dead at the scene following an apparent fall from the Edingworth overbridge on to the M5 northbound carriageway shortly after 6am. The family of Mrs Harrill has asked that they be left to grieve at this sad time.

Long delays of traffic built up in the Burnham area, as pictured above, as police closed the M5 for over four hours.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident. They are particularly keen to speak to the drivers of Somerfield and Tesco lorries whch are believed to have been in the area at the time.
