Sara Cox-Conklin, one of the owners of Burnham-On-Sea Swim and Sports Academy, visited a Highbridge school this week where students are currently working on designs for the proposed extension of the pool.

King Alfred School’s Year 9 geography students are undertaking the work as part of their planning topic.

Sara spoke to the students about her aims for the extension, and looked at some of their ideas and answered questions.

The school’s Catherine Owen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Students will now put their final versions of their plans together. The best plan from each class will be sent to Sara at the end of next week and she will decide which is the best of all.”

“The designer of the chosen plan will win a year’s free swimming during open sessions and all students who take part will receive a voucher for a free swim.”

The ultimate winner will be announced during the week before Easter and could see their plans for the Berrow Road pool become a reality later in the year.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last year that the sports academy’s £330,000 extension had been given the go-ahead by district council planners.
