Burnham-On-Sea’s hard-working postal workers have been praised by the Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council during a special visit to see how they are handling the Christmas rush.

Councillor Ian Dyer visited the Burnham-On-Sea Delivery Office to thank local postmen and women for their hard work during the postal service’s busiest time of the year.

“I visited the Bridgwater and Burnham-On-Sea Delivery Offices to see first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post and to pass on season’s greetings to its hardworking staff,” he said.

“I was shown around the office by Delivery Office Managers Mark Sams and Grant Gerrard, and was introduced to the postmen and women, who were pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail in the Bridgwater and Burnham-On-Sea areas over the Christmas period.”

This year Royal Mail has been celebrating its 500th anniversary, with the festive period marking half a millennium of delivering Christmas cards and parcels.
