Burnham-On-Sea was struck by hail, lightning, thunder and high winds overnight when a winter storm swept through the area.

98 properties in East Brent were left without power shortly after midnight this morning (Sunday) when the storm arrived. Western Power Distribution worked into the early hours to get supplies restores.

Hail stones briefly turned streets white in Burnham as they clattered onto pavements, as captured in this video footage.

The Met Office had warned of a risk of gusty winds and torrential rain as the storm passed through.

The remainder of Sunday is forecast to be breezy and bright with temperatures feeling around 5°C.
