Talks continue on the future of Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Hall

-

A decision about the future of Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Hall is likely to be made soon after months of talks about the town centre facility.

Discussions have been ongoing between the current owner, Sedgemoor District Council, and Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, about a possible switch of ownership.

As we reported in February, Sedgemoor is embarking on a cost-cutting exercise and said it wanted a new organisation to take over the building’s management.

Town councillors voted in favour of opening talks with the district council on the the possibility of taking on the management and running of the building – but since then all of the talks have been held behind closed doors.

Doug Bamsey, corporate director of the district council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We have held positive conversations about the future of the hall and while no decision has yet been made, I think that fairly soon we will be in a position to be clearer about the outcomes.”

“We gave the town council until September to give a positive confirmation that they wanted to discuss this further, which they met, and the final talks are now underway.”
