Pubs in the Burnham-On-Sea have been warned to be extra vigilant after a safe and other valuables were stolen from a local pub on Saturday night (February 2nd).

Private accommodation above The Puriton Inn was broken into and valuables were stolen while the pub downstairs was busy with rugby fans watching the big England rugby match.

“At approximately 9.10pm the private accommodation above the pub was broken into, whilst the the pub was open and very busy downstairs after the England rugby game,” said a spokeswoman.

“The safe was removed along with other items.”

“We are pleading to anyone with any information to come forward.”

“As you can imagine, it’s horrible to think someone has been in our home, especially whilst the pub was still open.”

“The vehicle used was parked outside the side door of the pub at this time, so someone may have seen it. It is believed to have been a planned burglary.”
