Raising of Armed Forces Day flag in Highbridge cancelled due to technical issue

-

The raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag in Highbridge on Saturday morning (June 28th) has been cancelled due to a technical hitch.

A Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council spokesperson explains: “Regrettably, the flag is unable to be hoisted at present due to a mechanical failure within the raising apparatus.”

“The supporting cable has sustained damage and is currently inoperable and the current flag cannot be lowered. Unfortunately, temporary repairs have been unsuccessful, and remedial measures are being arranged as soon as possible.”

“Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council apologise for the cancellation, but appreciates your understanding in this matter.”

The raising of the Armed Forces Day flag will go ahead as scheduled in Burnham-On-Sea next to the fountain at 11am on Saturday morning, as previewed here.
