A ceremony has been held in Burnham-On-Sea to mark the official affiliation of the Royal British Legion with the town’s Sea Cadets and Army Cadets.

The event was held at the Sea Cadets Centre in Casis Close, Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday evening (January 26th) where framed certificates were presented to the groups to formalise the links.

The Burnham-On-Sea branch of the Royal British Legion marked its affiliation with TS Dulverton – Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets and also Burnham and Highbridge Platoon Somerset cadet Battalion (The Rifles) ACF.

Last April, the legion also held a similar ceremony to mark its official link with the 290 Burnham & Highbridge Detatched Flight Devon and Somerset Wing Sir Training Corps, as we reported here.

“The Burnham branch of the legion closed temporarily and is now fully operational again, but as a result we need to mark the re-starting of the affiliation with these groups,” explained Bernard Spray, Chairman of Burnham’s Royal British Legion.

Those in attendance included Maj Robert Macdonald – County Chairman of Somerset and Bristo Royal British Legion, Mike Mansfield – President of Burnham-On-Sea Royal British Legion, Bernard Spray – Chairman of Burnham’s Royal British Legion, John Crosby – Vice Chairman of Burnham’s Royal British Legion, and Ruth Crosby – Treasurer of Burnham’s Royal British Legion.
