A dozen Burnham-On-Sea youngsters raised more than £280 for Comic Relief by holding a fundraising run along the town’s seafront on Sunday (March 13th).

Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, were among the crowd of supporters who cheered off the girls, aged 8 and 9, at the start of their run along The Esplanade to the Yacht Club.

“The girls are thrilled to have raised such a great amount,” one of the mums, Debbie Boardman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Thanks go to everyone who supported them – we are delighted that it went so well.”

The children, who all attend St Joseph’s School, include Bryony, Lorna, Lily, Sophie, Lauren, Lucy, Chloe, Nelly, Katie, Bea, Maddie and Georgia. They have also created their own online fundraising page here for people to donate.
