Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront has been given a £22,000 face-lift during the last fortnight.

Work to spruce up seating shelters and redecorate metal work along The Esplanade was completed on Friday.

The project included an overhaul of shelter roofs, the replacement of facias, the redecoration of metal work, woodwork ceilings, benches and handrails.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The shelters on the North Esplanade had had no planned maintenance carried out for a long period and were looking tired and neglected.”

“We have just completed the overhaul of the three freestanding structures and surrounds at a cost of £22,000. These were situated at the junctions of Seaview Road, Adam Street and at the Pier.”
