The team at Secret World Wildlife Rescue near Burnham-On-Sea have been caring for a rare admission – a grass snake brought in by a member of the public after it had a run-in with a cat.
After a thorough check-over by the charity’s wildlife care team at its centre in East Huntspill, it was clear the snake had escaped without serious injuries.
“We gave it fluids and pain relief to help it settle in its vivarium. Snakes get very stressed in captivity and rarely eat, so we always aim to keep their stay as short as possible,” says a spokesperson.
“We’re happy to share that, after some rest, rehydration, and a clean bill of health from our vet, it was ready to return to the wild.”
“It didn’t hang around for goodbyes as the speedy snake slithered straight back to freedom.”
“A big thank you to the member of the public who brought it in, and to everyone who supports our work with wildlife.”
