Sedgemoor District Council’s Clean Surroundings contractors, Powerclean, have been washing Burnham’s High Street to make it presentable for the Christmas shopping season.
“The process uses high pressure steam to remove staining, ground-in dirt, bird mess and chewing gum,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The programme takes around three weeks to complete and is undertaken twice per year in addition to the normal regular street cleaning activities such as litter picking and mechanical sweeping.
