Four students at King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge have hit reached a key milestone.

Lucy Falber, Charlotte Avery, Silas Cooksley and Ferdy Steele have all hit the magic one million words figure in their ‘Accelerated Reader’ programme.

The scheme is thriving at the school with many more students heading fast forwards the million figure.

Ferdy said: “The accelerated reader scheme helps to expand our vocabulary and broadens our mind and perspective.”

Silas added: “I am currently reading ‘1984’ by George Orwell and really enjoying it!”

The Academy is a fast-improving school that has excellent standards and a brilliant mix of extra curricular activities.
