High tides warning in Burnham, Brean and Berrow this week

Beach walkers have been warned to be aware of high tides in Burnham-On-Sea, Brean and Berrow over the coming days, after several people got cut-off on Saturday evening.

A series of high tides is due on Monday and Tuesday, prompting Coastguards to warn beach walkers and motorists to take extra caution by checking tide times to avoid getting into difficulty.

The high tide times in Burnham-On-Sea on Bank Holiday Monday will be at 8.42am (11.7m) and 9.03pm (12m). On Tuesday, the high tides will occur at 9.26am (11.8m) and 9.46pm (12m).

Beach wardens will be clearing beach parking areas in advance of the high tides to try and avoid any motorists getting into difficulty.

On Saturday, several beach walkers got cut-off in Burnham after being caught unaware by the tides.

“Several people waded into the sea to get around the rocky area near the beach entrance at Allandale Road,” local resident Simon Fisher told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “They were fine, but it’s never sensible to put yourself at risk. There are some very high tides this week which could easily see people get cut off.”
