Tiny fledgling robin rescued by Secret World carers after close call with cat

-

Burnham-On-Sea wildlife carers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue are looking after this tiny fledgling robin this week after it survived a close encounter with a cat.

A member of the public spotted the young bird in distress and contacted the charity for help, prompting one of Secret World’s rescue drivers to respond and bring the robin safely into care.

“Rescues like this can be uncertain, but this time there was good news. After a careful examination, no injuries were found — just a very hungry and determined little bird,” says a spokesperson.

“Since arriving, the fledgling has been eagerly gaping for food, a strong sign that it is ready to grow and recover.”

The team is feeding the robin every hour throughout the day to help it build strength until it can learn to feed independently.

Secret World says the incident is also a timely reminder that baby bird season is now well underway – and the charity is encouraging cat owners take steps to help protect wildlife during this busy period.
