Burnham and Highbridge Town Council hands donation to Surfers Against Sewage

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Town Mayor has presented a cheque to campaign group Surfers Against Sewage towards their work in striving to create plastic-free communities.

Cllr Bill Hancock has handed over a cheque to the group’s Mark Wakeling with the proceeds raised from public donations at the Town Council’s recent screening of environmental film ‘A Plastic Ocean’ in Burnham.

“The film was a very sobering account of the problems created when massive amounts of plastic are dumped in our seas,” the Mayor Bill Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“we were delighted that a large number of local residents came along to find out more about this issue and to show their support for the work we are doing to create a plastic free community in Burnham and Highbridge.”
