Police called as travellers return to Burnham-On-Sea seafront lawns

-

Fresh legal action is underway to move a large group of travellers who pitched up on Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront on Monday evening (July 31st).

As pictured here, the group of caravans, motorhomes and vans is parked on the South Esplanade lawns opposite the Sailing Club and also in the sailing club’s parking area.

Police were called in mid-evening in a bid to move on the group but there is little they can do.

Instead, Sedgemoor District Council, which owns the lawns, is due to serve legal papers on the group shortly to commence the courts process to get them moved – at taxpayers expense.

The legal costs of moving each group runs into hundreds of pounds – a figure that is rising as the summer draws on, as Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here last month.
