Burnham’s stunning Trinity Close Xmas lights raise over £7,600

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cul-de-sac whose stunning display of over 100,000 twinkling Christmas lights has been dubbed ‘Britain’s most festive street’ by the national media has raised over £7,600 for charity in three weeks.

Since the Trinity Close residents switched on their illuminations on December 1st, crowds of visitors have flocked to see the sparkling display.

A total of £7,660 has so far been raised for this year’s two nominated charities – PETAL: The Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust and the Friends of Burnham Hospital. The display is on track to match last year’s total of over £10,000.

The residents have decorated their homes top to bottom with lights, in addition to roofs, lawns and garden fences, and the display is lit each night from 4.30pm-10pm until January 5th.

Residents Nick and Hazel Gardner oversee the display and Nick told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a superb display this year – we have around 10,000 lights with several new ones among them. Several of the residents have installed extra lights this year – it’s great to see the display continuing to grow each year.”

The traditional displays have raised a huge total of more than £60,000 since the charity collections began nine years ago.

Visitors are being asked to be courteous to residents by parking sensibly and not blocking drives. The residents are working with Burnham Police and the Town Council to try and reduce congestion this year.
