Have your say on Burnham’s town centre vision at planning meeting

-

A new vision for Burnham-On-Sea town centre will be discussed during the latest meeting of the town’s Neighbourhood Planning Group this Thursday (December 11th).

The Neighbourhood Planning Burnham Town Centre Topic Group will meet at 7pm in Burnham Community Centre when residents will be welcome to have their say.

The group’s Phil Harvey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve already held a town centre walk (pictured) and a workshop, followed by the first meeting of the topic group where we considered the planning background to Burnham town centre and were able to question one of Sedgemoor’s senior planning officers.”

“Now we want to set out our overall vision – how do we want this area to develop in the years ahead? Once we’ve done that, we can look at developing policies to achieve it.”

Thursday’s meeting will be helped by the regeneration ideas that have been produced in the past and suggestions from local residents.

In addition, a group of King Alfred School students have been working on their ideas and have produced a display to showcase them.

Phil continued: “This is the first of a number of topic groups that will work to develop the Neighbourhood Plan over the coming months. Anyone is welcome to come along and contribute to the progress.”

“At the end of the day, the plan is produced by local people and will only come into effect if it is approved by a local referendum. The more participation there is and the more feedback we get the better.”
