Walker raises safety concerns over ‘dangerous’ state of footpath in Highbridge

-

A Highbridge resident has aired concerns about the poor condition of a footpath running next to a building site in the town.

Ray Stewart says he’s concerned that someone could be hurt if the surface of the path is not addressed at the end of Newtown Road leading into Apex Park.

Construction work is underway to build 59 homes and 36 bungalows on the former site of Delta Engineering, as first reported here.

Ray says: “I regularly use the walkway/cycle path from Highbridge to Burnham via Apex Park through to The Esplanade. The area where the new houses are being built is a dangerous mess.”

“This needs fixing as a matter of urgency before someone gets hurt. The fix is easy. Two builders, some tarmac and a mechanical roller.”

Sedgemoor District Council says that improvements will be made to the path once works have been completed on the site, adding that there is a temporary arrangement pending the completion of the development works. Improvements are planned when the work is completed.
