A group of Burnham-On-Sea slimmers have lost 74lbs by taking part in a weight loss challenge.
The 12-week Burnham Better Body Challenge was run with nutritional company called Herbalife to encourage local people to lead a healthier active lifestyle.
“They have all done amazingly well and we have had a fantastic 12 weeks coaching them,” said coach Chelle Gibbs.
“My congratulations go to the winner, Debbie Clarke, who lost 7% of her body weight, winning £150.”
Debbie said: “I feel much healthier and have a lot more energy since taking part in the course, I have learnt about good nutrition which has enabled me to eat a variety of healthier foods, and I intend to continue with healthier eating and exercise.”
A new challenge, along with a running club, will start in the New Year, said Chelle. “We start the class with a 30 minute walk followed by a talk about nutrition. Each week we have a different topic such as protein, fats, exercise, healthy heart and dining out.”
“We encourage members to make healthier choices, understand the effects food has on your body and lead a more active lifestyle. We not only measure your weight but we monitor your bone mass, visceral fat, muscle mass, body fat, hydration levels, your metabolic rate and your metabolic age. We aim to improve your long term health, help you lose weight and feel amazing.”
The course costs £39 and the money creates a cash prize for the biggest loser of body fat. There are also weekly prizes, and half-price classes at Dancefit for the duration of the course. Brean Splash also support the group with free swimming as weekly prizes. To register your interest, call 07833 469357.
