Wild Bird Fortnight gets underway at Brent Knoll garden centre

-

Two weeks of bird-related activities for children will get underway at a Brent Knoll garden centre this Saturday (October 15th).

Sanders Garden World is holding a Wild Bird Care Fortnight between October 15th and October 30th.

During the event there will be free fun activities for children, including a competition for youngsters to draw a picture of a wild bird.

There will be two age categories: three to seven-year-olds and eight to 14-year-olds. The winners of each age category will receive a certificate, a Gardman large flip top seed feeder, an eight kilogram box of seed mix and a Chapelwood pink bird seed feeder. The runners up will receive a certificate, a Gardman standard flip top seed feeder and a four kilogram bag of seed mix.

Children will also be able to take part in a spot the bird hunt around the garden centre and free information leaflets will be available on ‘caring for garden birds’.

Peter Burks, General Manager of the garden centre in Brent Knoll, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are hosting the event to help raise awareness of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) ‘Feed the Birds Day’ on October 29th.”

“This month is a perfect time to ensure your garden has plants and shrubs that will attract birds and help them feed through the long winter days and nights.”
