Today’s Burnham-On-Sea Youth Parade to go ahead on beach

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s annual youth parade will be held on the town’s beach today (Saturday, July 12th).

Jonathan Smith, the organiser, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the parade of young people and groups will take place from 11am, starting at Maddock’s Slade before heading along the sands to the jetty.

“We’re hoping for as many groups involved with youth activities to take part in this event and show the great things on offer for the younger members of Burnham and Highbridge,” he said.

After the procession, there will be a sandcastle building competition on the beach and a fun day.

Fun day organiser – and Carnival Queen – Emma Nicholson said: “When I was crowned last year I was determined to do something unforgettable with my year as Carnival Queen. I also wanted to raise money for charities and Burnham Pantomime Society.”

“So, as part of the youth parade, I am organising a fun day for the community. There will be games, a raffle, bouncy castle, displays and lots more fun things for everyone to get involved with.”

“One of the charities I’m supporting is Think Amy, a local road safety charity. I chose this because I wanted to do something for children and my mum’s cousin was killed in a road accident in 1995, so I feel being aware of road safety is important for everyone – including children.”

The event is also open for craft stalls and groups. Get involved by contacting jonathan@boshevents.org.uk
