HIGHBRIDGE'S crumbling town clock looks set to be replaced with a new four-faced clock in 2012 costing between £20,000 and £25,000. The Town Council confirmed this week that it is awaiting detailed drawings and plans from two clock manufacturers for the new design.

PROTESTERS fighting energy firm Ecotricity's controversial plans to build a new wind farm near Burnham-On-Sea have expressed their concern at the 'tactics' being used by the firm after it lodged its formal planning application this week. Ecotricity's plans for the Black Ditch site outside East Huntspill have been slightly amended to include four turbines instead of five.

POLICE in Burnham-On-Sea have welcomed a court's decision to fine two traders in the town caught selling alcohol to under-age drinkers. Ismet Dogan from Zara's Mini Market in Abingdon Street pleaded guilty to selling alcohol to a person under 18 before Sedgemoor Magistrates.

A FORMER Burnham-On-Sea man who is facing trial on 26 child sex charges has gone on the run, police have admitted this week. Police said Robert Hands, pictured, was last seen in July and also said the 53-year-old "may be a danger to the public". An appeal has been issued to find him.

A SWAN was rescued from a frozen lake at Highbridge's Apex Wildlife Park on Monday evening (November 29th) after it became trapped in the ice. Wildlife carers from East Huntspill's Secret World called on the help of Burnham rescue charity BARB to help reach the stricken bird.
