begins at site of fire-hit Highbridge Hotel
These
were the scenes in Highbridge on Wednesday morning (April 23rd)
after a huge fire at the former Highbridge Hotel
last night
caused major disruption in the Burnham area.
Police
investigators were at the scene, examining the property and spokesman
Dan Mountain told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Officers are at the
scene with fire investigators trying to establish the cause. Market
Street remains closed - and may do so for some time due - due
to the stability of the property."
Fire
brigade spokeswoman Janet Booth added: "It is too early yet
to say whether the fire was deliberately set alight or not."

Fire
crews were still at the scene on Wednesday morning, damping down.

A
hydrauylic platform was used by the fire crews to inspect the
property.

Church
Street was closed to traffic, causing major delays for motorists.

The
scene near the former hotel was still closed off by police.
