Thirteen Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackled a blaze at a seafront flat in the town on Wednesday (June 5th) that left the property with ‘severe fire, heat and smoke damage’.
Fire crews were called to the North Esplanade, as pictured here, at 3.30pm near the corner with Maddock’s Slade.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire Service told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater attended a fire in a first floor flat of a property.”
“The fire was located in the kitchen, and crews entered the building wearing breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.”
“Crews put the fire out, and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots. A positive pressure fan was then used to clear the property of smoke logging.”
“The flat sustained severe fire, heat and smoke damage, and also smoke damage to neighbouring flats.”
Crews said the fire was caused accidentally and confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that no-one was hurt.
