Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater, Cheddar and Street tackled a large outdoor fire near to the M5 through Somerset on Friday, May 2nd.
The blaze next to Bridgwater’s junction 23 was first reported just after 10.45am following multiple calls from concerned passers-by.
The fire involved an area of 200m x 15m of tree scrub and hay bales. Crews used three hose reel jets, two attack jets, a light portable pump and wildfire pumping capability to extinguish the blaze.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A large number of calls were received in Fire Control at around 10.49am to report a large fire that could be seen from near Junction 23 of the M5.”
