Stranded pigeon rescued from roof by Burnham-On-Sea fire crew!

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called out today (Thursday) to perform one of their more unusual rescues.

The fire service received a request for help from the RSPCA just after 4pm when a pigeon was spotted to be trapped on the roof of a property in Maple Drive.

The crew used a roofing ladder and a triple extension ladder to reach the pigeon, which was then passed to the RSPCA carers.

“The bird was tangled by its legs in some netting on the dorma window of the property,” said a spokesman, who added that unless birds are rescued there is a risk that people may put their own safety at stake to reach them.
