Brean Leisure Park raises £14,000 for local charities this year

-

Brean Leisure Park has raised £14,000 for local charities during 2012, it said this week.

The park’s popular pig and donkey racing during the summer raised £6,000 for Highbridge and Burnham St John Ambulance and the Sea Cadets unit.

The Memory Walk from Brean Leisure Park to Brean Down in September raised a further £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association, while collections for Somerset Air Ambulance raised £583.

Fundraising events have also included a Celebrity Pro Am Golf Tournament for both the Injured Jockeys Fund and Petals, the Christine Woodberry Memorial trust.

“We also supported additional collections throughout the season for St Margaret’s Hospice, Bibic, Weston Hospice Care, NSPCC, Cancer Research, Bristol Oncology, MS Society, Breast Cancer Research, Action for Children and Help the Heroes. BARB collected at the park’s firework displays and visits to The Tavern,” said the park’s Bridget House.

“We are very proud to support and feel it is important to continually support our local charities. We will continue to do so in 2013 and in the years to come.”
