Record crowds filled Burnham-On-Sea’s Manor Gardens on Sunday (September 4th) to watch the final day of the town’s FolkFest.

Several thousand people crammed into the gardens for an afternoon of live folk music and dance from The Carrvick Sisters, Fallen Apples, Sail Pattern and 3 Daft Monkeys plus The Mudlarks, Coastal Cloggers and Tiger Feet Appalachian dancers.

This year’s event was widely acclaimed as the ‘best yet’ and FolkFest Chairman Graham Cook told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was delighted with how it had gone.

“We were really lucky with the weather this year and saw a massive turnout in the Manor Gardens and on Saturday in the town centre where the pubs were really busy with trade.”

“The crowds in the Manor Gardens just seemed to build and build throughout the afternoon and we had our biggest ever turnout, but it was still safe and everyone had a great time.”

He added that the event’s finances had been boosted by busy bar trade on Sunday, but said the event overall had still made a small loss.

“Due to the reduced grant funding we have received this year, we’ve made a loss of £2-3,000 which emphasizes the importance of fundraising for next year’s event.”
