Popular Highbridge fish and chip shop owner Dennis Moore dies

-

Dennis Moore, the former proprietor of Moore’s fish and chip shop in Church Street, Highbridge has passed away at the age of 72.

Moores fish and chip shop was a Highbridge landmark for three generations and had been serving up food for residents for 86 years.

Dennis worked at Westlands in Weston-super-Mare after leaving school before taking over the family business when his father passed away in 1963.

The fish and chip business was initially started by Dennis’s grandmother in 1926.

Dennis was born in the property where he spent his life with his beloved wife Thelma, who passed away in September after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis will be remembered by many for standing on his shop’s front step wearing his straw hat – a familiar sight to passers-by.

His funeral service will take place on Tuesday 6th December at 12 noon at St John’s Church in Highbridge.
