Police appeal for witnesses after fatal crash near Burnham-On-Sea

-

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision during the early hours of this morning (Sunday, 20th December).

A BMW driving along the A38 on the Bristol Road was travelling from Pawlett near Burnham-On-Sea towards Bridgwater but failed to negotiate the roundabout at Dunball.

“It crossed to the centre of the roundabout and was in collision with a tree, resulting in serious injury to the two rear seat passengers,” said a spokesman.

“One of them died at the scene shortly afterwards and the other was taken with serious injuries to hospital.”

“Two men in the front of the car tried to leave the scene and were detained. They were both over the drink drive limit and have been arrested.”

“We are keen to trace anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the incident or helped at the scene following the collision.”

Anyone with information should contact the Police’s collision investigation unit on the force number 101, quoting ref CI/277/15-3528.
