HIGHBRIDGE'S King Alfred School has awarded Sports Bursaries to four of their most outstanding students post-16 sports players. The bursary of £250 is awarded annually to all sixth form students who compete at county, national or international level to help with their travel costs.

YOUNGSTERS at Burnham-On-Sea's Playaway Day Nursery had a special visit from one of the town's fire engines on Thursday (March 22nd). The nursery's Julia Gaskell told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The children were able to go in the engine, sound the sirens and generally explore the vehicle."

Tiny orphan fox cub rescued
THIS fox cub, who is so tiny he sits in the palm of a hand, is the first orphan of the spring breeding season to arrive at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre near Burnham-On-Sea. The tiny creature, called Pedro, has been rescued after its cries were heard coming from of a bramble bush in Lympsham.

Young singers are on song
FOUR local singers from the Burnham-based Siobhan Johnson Singers who sang at the Highbridge Festival of the Arts all won silver medals. For three of them it was their first time performing at the festival and three of them gained "distinctions" for their performances.
FOUR local singers from the Burnham-based Siobhan Johnson Singers who sang at the Highbridge Festival of the Arts all won silver medals. For three of them it was their first time performing at the festival and three of them gained "distinctions" for their performances.
