A CHRISTMAS tree festival is to open in Burnham-On-Sea tomorrow (Saturday, December 10th) when a dozen sparkling trees will go on display for a fortnight. St Andrew's Church is holding the festival and life-size crib scene every day until Christmas Eve.

SEVERAL residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area have this week been officially named as torch bearers for next year's London Olympic Games. Burnham charity runner Jason Vickers, who has raised more than £8,000 for charity over the past seven years, will be one of the 8,000 torchbearers.

VISITORS to Brent Knoll's Sanders Garden World have recently helped to raise £2,366.98 for the Royal British Legion. The cash was ccollected during the sale of the charity’s poppies at the garden centre from October 31st until November 11th in run-up to Rembrance Day.

A PETITION signed by more than 12,000 people opposed to the planned expansion of Hinkley Point power station near Burnham-On-Sea is to be handed in at Downing Street next week. The Stop Hinkley group has collected 12,750 signatures and will be taking them to London.
