Fire crews called to Brean crash
FIRE crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called out at 12.26am on Sunday morning (October 12th) to reports of a car fire following an accident near Brean. The collision occurred in Accommodation Road between Weston-super-Mare and Brean and there is no reason to think the fire was suspicious.
£24,000 grant boost for school
A SCHOOL near Burnham-On-Sea is planning to install solar panels worth £24,000 by the end of the year thanks to a grant funding boost. Brent Knoll School has been awarded funding from EDF Energy and the government's Low Carbon Building Programme totalling £24,000.

A PIECE of burning toast caused a small kitchen fire that led to Burnham-On-Sea fire brigade being called out on Friday morning (October 10th). One Burnham fire engine was sent to Highridge Road at 7.38am after a home owner dialling 999 to alert the brigade.

230 take part in half marathon

Police probe shooting incident

Injured woman air-lifted after crash
A 49-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after being injured in a road accident in Burnham-On-Sea on Friday afternoon (October 3rd). A motorcycle collided with a vehicle outside Burnham-On-Sea Memorial Hospital at 3.30pm, leading to the closure of the busy route, and an air ambulance being called to the scene.

Young seal washed up at Brean
WILDLIFE rescuers were called to Brean on Thursday morning (October 2nd) after this cute seal was stranded on the beach when he was washed up on the high tide. The young common seal, weighing around 40kg, was spotted on the beach by a local resident who alerted East Huntspill's Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Coastguards find missing man
A TEAM of a dozen Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea were called out in the early hours of Wednesday (October 1st) to search for a missing man who had been reported by his parents to be in a 'distressed' state. Storm batters Burnham seafront
GALE-force winds and a high tide combined to give Burnham-On-Sea's Esplanade a battering on Wednesday morning (October 1st) when the first storm of the autumn hit the town. These were the scenes as waves slammed into the sea wall, sending plumes of spray onto vehicles and several unspecting walkers along the seafront.

POLICE in Highbridge are appealing for the public's help in tracing a taxi that has been stolen from the town. Some time between 6.30am on Monday (September 29th) and 1.45pm the following day, Tuesday September 30th, the taxi was stolen from Morland Road in Highbridge.

DOZENS of residents in Highbridge were without power on Wednesday morning (October 1st) after strong winds brought down power lines. The first heavy storm of autumn sent a wooden pole crashing down. North Avenue on the Morland Estate was closed both ways.
Missing boy found at Brean
BURNHAM police have praised the work of partner agencies after a boy went missing in Brean this week. On Monday (September 29th) a five year old boy went missing as his family were taking a walk through Brean. The child was quickly found safe and well thanks to joint working .
Anger over snub for motor club
Exclusive: A LONG-running classic car event which starts each year from Burnham-On-Sea has this week been forced to start from a Brent Knoll pub car park because Sedgemooor District Council was not prepared to forgo an hour's income for thirty car parking spaces. Vandals leave trail of damage
Exclusive: VANDALS left a trail of damage in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea at the weekend as they smashed the windows of three properties. Two businesses on the High Street faced repair bills of several hundred pounds after their shop front windows were broken by the thugs.

A GARDEN centre near Burnham-On-Sea has won a 'green' award this week in recognition of its recycling scheme. Sanders Garden World at Brent Knoll was presented with a 'Green Initiative of the Year Award' at a special awards ceremony held in Birmingham. The centre's manager received the award.

LOVERS of Italian food in Burnham-On-Sea are in for a treat when a brand new restaurant opens in the town this weekend. Bonomo restaurant is making final preparations for its grand opening at 30-32 Adam Street this Saturday evening (October 4th). The restaurant will serve authentic Italian food.
Badger blamed for A38 crash
THE A38 near Burnham-On-Sea was closed for almost an hour on Monday evening (September 29th) after the driver of this car swerved to avoid a badger and ended up careering off the road. The silver Ford Puma ended up on its roof, leaving the driver "shocked but otherwise not seriously hurt."
