Railway signal box in Burnham-On-Sea is set to be turned into a craft shop

-

A replica railway signal box in Burnham-On-Sea could be turned into a craft shop for eight months of next year under new plans.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, which owns the small building in Old Station Approach, has submitted a ‘change of use’ application to Sedgemoor District Council.

The Town Council says: “The Town Council were given this replica signal box by Burnham Railway Heritage Group last year and it had various occasional use, being used as a collection point for local charities, displaying railway memorabilia, and also as a pop-up shop for the selling of craft items.”

“A resident would like to ‘hire’ it from the Town Council for about eight months of next year for selling homemade crafts.”

The application – reference number 11/19/00099 – is due to be considered by Sedgemoor District Council in coming weeks.
