Firefighters are tackling a serious blaze in Burnham-On-Sea this evening (Wednesday) that has spread across two houses.Â
Crews were called to the home in Priestley Way shortly before 6pm after thick black smoke was initially reported billowing out.
Within minutes, the fire quickly spread and flames were seen emerging out of the roof of the detached building.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire quickly spread to a neighbouring property as well.
Four fire appliances were on scene by 6.40pm, with crews using hose reel jets to try and bring the blaze under control. Two further appliances followed.
Burnham-On-Sea Police set up a cordon in the road to help access for the emergency services. No injuries are reported.
A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called to a significant fire in Burnham-On-Sea this evening, and crews have been working hard to extinguish it using six fire appliances and a hydraulic platform. No-one was injured and the cause of the incident is being investigated.”
