Somerset Trading Standards issue warning over illegal vodka

-

Drinkers across the Burnham-On-Sea area have this week been warned to avoid an illegal variety of vodka containing an industrial solvent that could be harmful to health.

Somerset Trading Standards officers have warned shops and residents to watch out for Drop Vodka, which comes in two versions that claim to originate from France or Italy.

“Some has contained Propan-2-ol which carries a warning from the Food Standards Agency and is more commonly used to clean electronic equipment or in de-icer aerosols,” Somerset Trading Standards spokesman Stephen Weatherill told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The alcohol content is also considerably lower than 37.5 per cent shown on the label.”

Anyone coming into contact with the drink is asked to contact Somerset County Council’s Trading Standards team with details of where they purchased the vodka by calling 01823 357261 or emailing here.
