Popular bike shop in Highbridge town centre won’t close

-

A popular bicycle shop in Highbridge which was under threat of closure is to stay open, its owners have announced.

Notices promoting a ‘closing clearance sale’ appeared outside Skidmarx in Market Street last week, but owners Antony and Jane Brooks have now reconsidered the store’s future and are to run it alongside their online store.

“The shop will be changing and will sell bike parts and accessories in our service workshop area while the online store is selling bikes,” Jane told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Trading conditions have been very tough during the recession and bad weather, but we don’t want to close.”

“We’ve put blood, sweat and tears into this business since opening in December 2003 and have many loyal customers.”

The front of the shop will be changing over the next few weeks, with new frosted glass and signage, to reflect the firm’s new focus.
