Huntspill and Highbridge Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs raise £790 on three peaks fundraising trek

-

Members of 1st Huntspill and Highbridge Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs have taken part in a unique fundraising challenge.

The group, with an age range from 4 to 10 years old, took part in their annual Group Lead Volunteer challenge over the weekend.

“In one day members and their parents as well as leaders climbed the three local peaks of Glastonbury Tor,  Crooks Peak and Brent Knoll,” says the group’s Claudette Murley.

“The children could choose to climb 1, 2 or 3 peaks, having lunch on Crooks Peak and finishing at the top of Brent Knoll with a game and a renewal of Promises.”

“They asked for sponsorship raising funds towards this year’s District Supercamp which will the first time all 4 sections will camp together with groups from across the Moors and Coastal District.”

“At the last count we had raised £790 which is amazing and with the Scouts completing the challenge later on in the year we hope to reach at least £1,000.”
