Huge cranes were installed next to Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Thursday morning (April 30th) when over a dozen yachts were lifted into the River Brue during the town’s annual ‘crane-in’.
The long-running tradition is organised each Spring by the Sailing Club when yachts are hoisted out of the boatyard and into the river for the start of the sailing season.
It was due to go ahead earlier this year but was postponed twice due to stormy weather. It also did not go ahead last year while repairs were made to the pathway leading onto the beach next to the Sailing Club.
A spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a perfect morning with no winds and a calm high tide. There were 15 movements of yachts carried out over several hours.”
