HIGHBRIDGE'S King Alfred School will be partially closed next Wednesday (November 30th) when staff join a national strike to complain about changes to their pensions. The school will close to pupils in years 7-11 for the day, it has been confirmed by the head teacher this week.

THE government has confirmed the closure of Swansea coastguard station, which co-ordinates beach rescues in the Burnham-On-Sea area. Transport Minister Mike Penning said the station, which employs 28, will close by March 2015 - raising concerns about safety.

HOPES that Highbridge Library will be saved from closure were given a major boost on Wednesday (November 16th) when the High Court in London ruled that Somerset County Council's decision to withdrawing funding from the facility was "unlawful" and will have to be reversed.

Medieval ball tickets on sale
FINAL tickets are available for a spectacular Medieval Ball and Auction which is to be held later this month in aid of East Huntspill's Secret World Wildlife Rescue. The 12th annual event is being held at The Webbington Hotel on Saturday, November 26th, from 6.30pm.
