A NATIONAL bookmaker's chain has confused some residents in Highbridge this week when it shut its town centre shop, then opened a new one just five doors away the following day! William Hill closed its Market Street shop next to the busy A38 roundabout but opened a new shop just 20 paces away down the same street!
Farmer issues lanterns warning
Exclusive: A BERROW farmer has urged residents in Burnham-On-Sea not to let off Chinese lanterns during this weekend's New Year festivities after six of the burning objects landed within a few metres of her hay barn this week. Wendy Welland, from Faircott Farm, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the lanterns which came down on Christmas Night could easily have caused a fire.
Rubbish collections resume
CHRISTMAS waste and recycling is being cleared this week in the Burnham-On-Sea area by Somerset Waste Partnership collection crews and recycling staff. After a week of severe weather when they were disrupted, kerbside services have been underway since Tuesday.

20 starving swans rescued from ice
