Christmas services to go ahead as normal at Catholic Church

-

Christmas services at Burnham-On-Sea’s Catholic Church are set to go ahead as planned after the danger from falling icicles decreased on Thursday (December 23rd).

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported on Wednesday that the church had been sealed off by the fire service as a safety measure due to the threat of ice falling from the church’s roof onto pedestrians below.

But church spokeswoman Pat Nicholls told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday: “Our Christmas Services will go ahead as planned. Already, the thaw has melted many of the icicles.”

“Arrangements have been made to hire barriers, which will be placed two metres from the building, to prevent people walking under the eaves if any icicles are still hanging.”

The church’s services on Christmas Eve are at 6pm (Family Mass) and 10.30pm (Carols followed by ‘Midnight’ Mass at 11pm). Then, on Christmas Day, there will be a main 10.30am mass.
