Council unveils plans for £30,000 seafront illuminations

Burnham seafront is to be lit up with attractive illuminations after the town council gave the green light to a £30,000 project.

The lights – which could look similar to the proposal shown here – should be in place for the Spring Bank Holiday period this year.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council has been discussing the plans for months but has just this month set aside the budget for the project.

The council will shortly be seeking quotations and designs from other companies in accordance with its policy of ensuring that it obtains the best value for tax payers money.

Blachere Illuminations – which is behind the world-famous Blackpool illuminations – has submitted its proposal (pictured) and further companies will be asked for ideas in the coming weeks.

While the town council admits that Burnham is unlikely to compete with Blackpool due to its size, it will be able to put on an impressive display that is certain to attract plenty of onlookers.
